Storytime Part II: The police stopped me in Turkey

Hello all! I want to tell you the second part of the story that I posted some days ago. If you haven't checked it out I would recommend you read it. Just scroll down a bit more. After almost 20 minutes of questions, the policewoman finally stopped. She started to tellme that everything was ok. That they believed all the info that I told them. However, she added something that even today shocks me.  They told me that the reason why I was interviewed was that I was 25 years old and traveling by myself to a country that they didn't consider safe enough. Then they said that I may want to get married to a member of ISIS LOL. Isn't dumb that I wanted to marry an ISIS member having lots of criminals in my own country to marry instead? LOL for me it is. And well after that experience, my life in the airports is not the same. Don't get me wrong. I love being in the airport the feelings are great.  But this anxiety of arriving in a new country and being stopped every time is not ...

Insipiration

Lately, I´ve been nostalgic and thinking about why I´m doing certain things currently. Then I go back to basics and I remember why I´m doing what I´m doing lol. So I want to post places that inspire me. Let me know if you guys like today´s inspirational place. The Maldives.

How to: Solo traveling as a girl

How to: solo traveling being a girl!   The other day I was scrolling in my Insta (what a novelty, I know) I saw this video about a Colombian girl being followed by a bunch of men, and fortunately, the ice cream store owner warned her about the situation helped her, In the end, she could get out of the place and she came back to her homeland the next day. This story is creepy and hits differently when you have experienced similar situations. I was also in Turkey when my taxi driver picked me up. I was so excited and I started to take pictures everywhere. The man noticed that I was trying to take photos from the backseat so he offered to sit next to him. He did not speak English, but somehow I understood him, On my way to my hotel he was trying to invite me to have dinner after leaving me in my hotel. I told him I did not want it to go and that I actually was married (a white lie). He insisted and then he told me that I wasn´t married because I didn´t have a ring. I freak...

Storytime: I traveled to Turkey from Toronto... The police intercepted me

I had never been anxious in airports before a situation I experienced in the Toronto airport. I had planned this trip to Turkey many months before and I was super excited about it. As I mentioned before I love history and Turkey had one of the greatest cities in the past, so for sure I needed to see the rest of it. Back then I didn´t have an American visa so I had to travel to Europe through Canada. So I arrived in Toronto and as soon as I leave the plane a group of migration officers intercepted me. I was confused but calm. However, I had only 40 minutes to take the next flight. They started to ask many questions, why are you coming alone? where do you work? what do you own? etc. Back then my English was more basic than now, so I started to get nervous 😖. Then they finished and I had only 20 minutes to take the next flight... Keep tuned to know the rest of the history

FOOD, FOOD AND MORE FOOD

Hello there! I´m not going to lie, while I´m writing this I´m hungry, it is maybe emotional hunger or real hunger... Anyway, I was thinking about the amazing food that I tried on my trips. And I was thinking that I can share with you a short story about every dish that I love. What do you think? Would you like it? Let me know in the comments

Solo Traveling KEEP YOURSELF SAFE for girls tIP #5 and last :P

Are you fed up with my tips already? You better be because this is my last one lol.  I had a bad experience long ago (which I don´t want to talk about) it all ended up well. Nonetheless, it could have ended before, but my phone was dead. Currently, phones are extremely SMART, but their battery sucks. Trust me, you don't want to be out there in a new and unknown place without your phone active. So, always charge your phone, take an extra battery with you everywhere and lastly take your charger with you.  Having your charged phone can save your life. So we are at the end of my safety tips for solo traveling being a girl. I hope you enjoyed them and that you learned a bit about them. See you in my next post.  Travel with  your charger or an extra durable battery

Solo Traveling KEEP YOURSELF SAFE for girls Tip #3

I understand that when we travel we also want to know new people. There are some ways to know people, especially if you are shy. Apps, social media, hostels, parties, etc.  I have used them all and they are super fun, however, as a girl, I think the risk of experiencing a sketchy situation is higher. So I would suggest you make a video call before meeting that new person. Try to hang out with new people in the daylight.  Tell your family and friends that you are meeting new people. Share the new people's contact with your family and friends. Avoid unknown places, especially at night. Well, that is my little advice for today, thanks for reading me and keep tuned.

Solo Traveling KEEP YOURSELF SAFE for girls Tip #2

Hello there! So today I want to share with you my second tip for traveling alone being a girl.  I´m going, to be honest, I don't enjoy reporting myself, the fact of sharing my location is sort of cutting my wings lol. However, it is a way to let your people know where you are in case something goes wrong. And believe me, simple situations can turn into a nightmare, so it´s important always to let know people where you are. There are many ways to do it, you can use Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Telegram.. etc. Remember, sharing is caring!! Share your location with family and friends.  Your mom is going to be grateful, your dad and me! I strongly encourage you to do it when visiting a new place. Is not going to take you more than 1 minute to do it. Keep traveling and keep yourself safe.

Long before the fire

I´m one of the lucky people that had the chance to visit Notre Dame in Paris before the fire, this is one of many pictures that I took. I remember that day, I was on a tour and we were listening to the story behind this popular place. Suddenly, everyone started to run, I was wondering what was happening. Then a lady approached us and she told us there was a bomb in a car. We all freaked out however,  after a couple of minutes the police said it was just an ordinary car.

Do you love or hate history?

Some posts ago I told you about my passion for Greek mythology which was one of my strongest reasons to visit the Old Continent. I know for some people history is boring, but we actually should know how was our past in order to don´t repeat the mistakes that we have done as a society. I encourage you to read just some of the highlights in every place that you visit, you will understand better why that particular culture has certain behaviors and customs.

Let´s talk about languages...

Languages are one of the most important pillars of a culture, that is why it is relevant for others when you learn their language. We all know that English is the most spoken language in the world, however, to learn short sentences when you are visiting a new country is very unique and special. All languages are important and he should be respectful of them and their culture. Learning a few sentences in another language will help you to connect with locals on a deeper level. Right now, I´m living in Montreal, and beyond learning the language to open my job opportunities it is a way to connect with locals too.  So far is going slow, but languages require time, lots of time lol.

I just woke up and I´m STARVING!

Here is what I ate a couple months ago in my country... I miss the food so much... What is your favorite Mexican food? Let me know in the comments

I love sunsets all around the world!

What about traveling in your own country?

When you give yourself the chance of visiting your own country, you help your own economy and you felt more proud of where you come from. For me, Mexico City has so much to offer to be discovered, and believe me, I did discover lots of new places.

After a break-up of a long and toxic relationship I made my dreams came true.

I've been always a dreamer and I was constantly having vivid dreams about traveling when I was 13 years old. But I think it started long before, at my grandparents' home. Grandpa had many books very colorful and interesting. I opened some of them but I won't ever forget one with Greek mythology it was amazing! Then I opened more always from different places and different cultures, 7 years old girl it was maybe complex, but somehow I understood that the world wasn't only about Mexico and Spanish, there was something else that I needed to discover and experience by myself. Why a "Traveler Cloud"? There is a popular ranchera song from Alejandro Fernandez, a popular and loved Mexican singer, called Nube Viajera (Traveler Cloud). I immediately felt identified with the title of the song, even when the lyrics have nothing to do with traveling.  Anyway, I had a 4 years relationship, I won't say it was all wrong, but it definitely didn't end up well. It was a t...

Every place is magic...

Every place is magic, but don´t expect an Instagram-filtered  image  when you arrive. Nature is not perfect.
